Arliston’s first single of 2020 ‘South’ has had a fantastic reception and now they release the accompanying video. The trio consistently deliver intriguing and artistically accomplished visuals for their singles and ‘South’ is no different.
The opening shot offering a stomach-turning and mysterious proposition: a totaled car with plenty of strange and inexplicable damage. The narrative then takes over as a couple take turns alternately damaging and repairing this car, which stands metaphorically in place of the relationship.
As front-man Jack explains; ‘Lyrically the song centers around a theme of amassed damage, how tiny acts of destruction can add up to something far worse than the sum of its parts. At what point is there too much-layered scar tissue to keep moving forward in a relationship?’
